Where's Frosty??

75 snowmen for the holidays.

These were inspired by Bakerella, http://www.bakerella.com/snowman-cake-pops/ snowman cake pops from her new book. I had promised to deliver 75 pieces and was wondering how I would pull it off after doing a few. You need lots of patience and time. Both of which I didn't have that day. I did them in steps as to not burn out. You also need space for 150+ cake balls, they were in every fridge and freezer. I did all choc. cake which when going with light colour candy coating would not be recommended. I had to use white candy wafers when really I wanted super white (only in US). Assembly was time consuming but I was really happy with how they turned out. I would recommend skipping the double ball snowman and just doing hat and head next time. If you are going to try this it's vital to add flocoat candy oil to candy prior to colouring paste.

Oh Tannenbaum... How lovely are your sprinkles

Cars cake

Right out of Radiator Springs!!

And egg free too! that was the hard part! I got it in the end with the bottom being chocolate chocolate chip with vanilla buttercream and the top vanilla with chocolate chip buttercream icing. Both tiers are covered in airbrushed marshmallow fondant. I had to make my own stencil for the racing flag, but it worked out great. The pylons are modeling chocolate. The logo, Mater and Lightening Mcqueen are all fondant with some airbrushing on Mater for rust. My friend who ordered this is a dentist so I had fun exaggerating Maters overjet. I even made a few sets of tires for the adults. They were choc. dipped mini oreos. It was so special to make Connor a REAL egg free cake instead of another ice cream cake.

Cheesecake

My husband loves cheese so he got a cheesecake for his birthday.

Would you believe he doesn't like desserts though?? So he never had a bite. Don't worry I ate his piece. It was coconut flavoured cake Pina Colada Buttercream....Yummers!!!! This cake will always make me smile because my 5 year old son had to keep it a secret for 3 months until we made it. He was ready to pop by Nov. 14 - Happy Birthday Dad!

Monster pops for Halloween

For the school kids.

These were for my two boys to take for there Halloween Parties. Our madness behind monsters was that they could scare away the "sugar bugs". They also co-ordinated with the labels on the toothbrushes they gave to each class mate. Yes I'm in dental. These are upside down mini cupcakes held on the coloured popsicle stick by melted choc. and then iced with grass tip. The eyes and mouth are fondant. I made a teacher version that was a double high cupcake. My wrist was shot after piping 50 of these....worth it though. The monster were obvious too friendly as my boys both had cavities in November :(

Cowgirl themed party

This was a fun cake with alot of detail. It was very vanilla all through. I covered it with cowhide fondant and then drapped with a girly bandanna. The bandanna is purple tinted fondant airbrushed with a paisley stencil which was custom made by a good friend. All the toppers are modeling chocolate. I worked 1 week in advance to give everything a good chance to harden. Apparently this cowgirl did not like cake but couldn't resist this one and ate a whole piece on her birthday. That makes it worth it for me!
Happy Birthday Charlie!

Cow Hide fondant

Purple fondant that is airbrushed with a darker purple.  I used a stencil for this.  Once draped on the cake it looked real.

Strawberry Shortcake

Berry Delicious!!!

As most people know I love SBSC so when I got the chance for a little sweetheart of mine I when all out. This cake took alot of time but mostly because my hubby turned on the undercabinet lighting one night and completely melted my sculptures by accident. So start again...SBSC, Puptart (puppy), Custard (cat) and berries are all moldeling chocolate. It was a challenge as time is a factor when sculpting with chocolate. The heat from my hands would often ruin the intricate details ie.details on shirt. Lots of running them under cold water. Flowers and leaves are marshmallow fondant. This cake was white and pink vanilla layers in both tiers with lightly flavored Strawberry Buttercream. I didn't leave much space for a candles...oops. I'm glad they had to cut this cake and not me!!

Super Mario themed party

The biggest 1-up mushroom you'll ever see.

Chocolate or Shoes?

Now she doesn't have to choose!
This was the biggest cake I had made to date (14" and 6"). It was for a very special person with an even bigger heart. She loves animal prints and her girl friends wanted to go with the fashion theme. The fondant was a good challenge with size and animal prints. The shoe is hand sculpted out of chocolate with piped on black swirls. It was only later I found you can buy a shoe making kit for cakes on line - only $79.99. Wheres the challenge in that? I ribbon wrapped the bases and off it went for a 3 hour car ride to the party. So far the furthest traveled cake I've made. I'm thankful a girlfriend at the party got the reveal on camera. Moments like that make it all worth it. Here's to another great Year Alma- Love you lots !

Linc's first birthday, second cake

Happy Birthday Lincoln cake 2/2
8" Chocolate cake with vanilla icing. My very first attempt with dark modeling chocolate. I used Mordens chocolate so it kind of tastes like tootsie roll....Yummers!
The cake is fondant covered with piped on green icing (grass tip). The leaves are fondant but the ladybugs are chocolate with piped on black for head and spots. One of my favorite cakes for cute factor and simplicity combined.
